The Norwegian/Scottish duo amilost return with the new single ‘Haunted’. Fittingly named given the tracks haunting atmosphere, the track dropped just before Halloween via Icons Creating Evil Art,
Capturing a rich musicality and a sense of melancholic, emotional intensity, ‘Haunted’ builds on the sonic palette of previous singles like ‘Tiny War’ and ‘Bloom’ through warming pianos and sprawling electronics. Blending it’s warming and alternative musicality with pop melodies, the track is pulled forward byt the evocative lead vocals, that drives the track forward into a haunting chorus as the lo-fi electronic beats and warming piano are swapped for aggressive synths and distortion tinted vocals.
As the duo explains, “Haunted is about that person you can’t quite shake out of your head. It’s about feeling like you had control over the situation, but realizing you were in deeper than you thought and that, in fact, the other person has a hold on you instead.”
A brilliant effort that showcases the duos feel for emotion but also their commercial potential, ‘Haunted’ is out now.
