Emerging guitarist & composer Emily Jane Roberts returns with the 2nd single from upcoming EP ‘The Persistence of Memory’. Inspired by the sounds of Hiatus Kaiyote and Nubya Garcia, shimmering guitar loops intersperse with euphoric horn lines, setting the scene for a brooding keys solo from Sultan Stephenson (Tomorrow’s Warriors). Previous support from Jazz Revelations, Kev Beadle on TWR, Charles Lloyd on Melodic Distraction and Apple Music’s ‘Jazz Scene: UK’ and ‘On The Corner’ editorial playlists. This is the young star’s second single taken from her upcoming EP ‘The Persistence of Memory’.

Named after the Emily Dickinson poem ‘Sun Sonification’,’I’ll Tell You How The Sun Rose’ was inspired by the other-worldly nature of sound (sonified) data collected by NASA and the European Space Agency when analysing the sun. Continuing with her blend of understated, shimmering guitar playing and compositional tendencies, the track also features euphoric, uplifting horn parts that give way to a moody, captivating solo from pianist Sultan Stevenson. It is also quite reminiscent of another fellow female-leading guitarist and producer, Ms. Rosei Frater Taylor .

The talented artist says of the track :‘I was inspired by the other-worldly nature of the sonified data especially of the Sun, which really influenced the sound world of this track. Some of my music influences for the writing were Hiatus Kaiyote and Nubya Garcia.” An alumna of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, her music has been supported by Jazz Revelations, plus Kev Beadle on Totally Wired Radio and Charles Lloyd on Melodic Distraction, as well as being playlisted on Apple Musics Jazz Scene: UK.
