Eyedress, aka Filipino artist and former lead guitarist of psychedelic noise pop band Bee Eyes, has announced his new album.
Let’s Skip to the Wedding is out on August 7th via Lex Records, and ahead of it, he’s released a new single, ‘Can I See You Tonight’.
Of the single, he notes “I was influenced by The Wake, Wild Nothing, cold wave shit… me and my girlfriend made it a while ago before she moved to LA. she would visit me from Vegas and we recorded this during one of her visits.
The song is about the early times when I would start seeing my girlfriend; like all the first dates and wanting to see her really bad every day and every night. The feeling of wanting to be together with her all the time; just falling in love.”
There’s a warmth and melancholy about ‘Can I See You Tonight’, these wobbly synth-chords punctuated by the shimmering guitar lines and echoey vocals. More than that though, it has a tune that gets itself firmly under your skin, and straight between the feels.
