There’s a clear sense of recalibration in the new chapter from Flynn Gurry. The Warrnambool-raised songwriter has dropped Bones, a new single and video that frames heartbreak with a steadier hand and signals the arrival of his forthcoming EP Gold, due March 13. Rather than rupture, the track leans into reflection, marking a subtle but noticeable widening of Gurry’s sound and perspective.

Bones sits at the intersection of folk-pop warmth and lived-in grit, shaped by hindsight rather than drama. Gurry describes the song as a realisation reached too late: two people staying until affection becomes fatigue. Sonically, it draws from rootsy, rhythm-driven influences, and feels built with the stage in mind. Co-written with Cooper Lower and produced alongside Joel Quartermaine and Edwin White, it expands on Gurry’s earlier work without abandoning its melodic core.

The accompanying video mirrors that restraint. Directed by Dara Munnis and Pat Pierce, it translates emotional distance into a simple visual device, with Gurry appearing as a skeleton from his partner’s point of view as everyday moments quietly fracture. Conceived on the road along the Great Ocean Road, the clip matches the song’s tone: clear, conceptual and unforced.

To coincide with the release, Gurry will tour nationally from March to May, beginning in Warrnambool before moving through regional centres and capital cities. Having progressed from busking to festival stages and national support slots, these shows continue a steady upward arc rather than a reset. For Gurry, Gold doesn’t announce reinvention. It documents progression.
