New York based singer songwriter Freeman Young has released a new single, No Nevermind, the follow u0 to his lauded debut single Running Back, which dropped back in May.
Of the track, Young says “I’ve lost count of how many times I’d overthink the most trivial thing then beat myself up for overthinking about it. I’ve missed a million Kodak moments living in my head. 10/10 would not recommend. Get up out of your head. Get after it.”
Built over these gluey funk guitar lines, Freeman Young lays down this smooth, soulful vocals, immediate and melodic, driven by (as it unfurls) pulsing drums and this jumping, restless hassline. Given a smooth sheen by these electronics and harmonies on the vocals, it’s the sort of thing you can relax into and love. And we do.
