Future Islands first gained world attention for their stunningly intense and committed performance of the single ‘Seasons (Waiting on You)’ on the Letterman Show way back in 2014. This somewhat overshadowed the fact that the band wrote and continues to write fantastic synth pop anthems.
After a gap of three years, they are back with a brilliantly rich new single, ‘For Sure’ – a perfectly constructed and vibrant pop single imbued with the gorgeous tones of singer Sam T . Herrings voice – deep and passionate and absolutely thrilling:
I will never keep you from an open door/I know, I know/That’s how much I feel in everything you are/You know, you know.
The accompanying video, directed by Sam Mason, is fittingly intense and dynamic – matching the pace of the bubbling synths and insistent rhythms with a post-apocalyptic world over run with wildlife and racing cars:
