Jehnny Beth has shared “No Good For People”, the latest single from her upcoming second album You Heartbreaker, You, out 29 August via Fiction Records.
The track—layered with abrasive synths and a sense of unease—continues Beth’s exploration of intimacy, violence and vulnerability. Recorded and produced in France at 20L07 Studios with longtime collaborator Johnny Hostile, the album presents a raw portrait of personal and political unrest. “We’re living in a dark time, full of drama and barbarous tragedy,” Beth explains. “It became clear to me that, in these times, we either learn how to scream really well, or we learn how to whisper.”
The new material builds on the foundations of her 2020 debut To Love Is to Live, an album that blended industrial electronics with stark lyricism. Since then, the former Savages frontwoman has continued to defy categorisation—collaborating with artists like Idles, Gorillaz, Sextile and Bobby Gillespie, while also building a parallel career in cinema. Her performance in Jacques Audiard’s Paris, 13th District marked a significant step, followed by the Palme d’Or and Oscar success of Anatomy of a Fall, in which she also played a role.
Beyond her solo work, Beth has consistently amplified emerging voices through ECHOES, her music series spotlighting artists such as Wet Leg, Fontaines D.C. and Kneecap before their rise to wider attention.
