Sydney-based Liliana de la Rosa leans fully into atmosphere on ‘High Like Heaven’, a track that doesn’t so much unfold as it drifts, slow and deliberate, into something more immersive.
Her second release builds on the world introduced by ‘Haunted by Roses’, but sharpens its focus. Written as a long-distance love letter and completed with a rapid-fire contribution from collaborator Corrj, the track carries that immediacy in its structure. There’s a sense of intimacy running through it, but it’s framed against something much larger, a cinematic sweep that gives even its quietest moments a sense of scale and foreboding.
Velvety vocals glide over layered production that feels designed for late-night listening, all soft edges and controlled intensity. Lyrically, the track circles obsession, ambition and desire without trying to resolve them. The emotional tone is heightened, but not chaotic. There’s a clarity in how Liliana approaches those themes, treating them less as fleeting states and more as something to be leaned into, explored, even indulged.
What’s becoming clear across these early releases is a commitment to cohesion. Liliana isn’t just building songs, she’s constructing an environment where sound and image operate in tandem. With a background in acting and a hands-on approach to both her music and visuals, that control feels intentional rather than imposed.
