Pop riser Loren Heat returns with the new single ‘2009’ a euphoric, synth-drenched homage to a defining year in pop history. Out this spring via Interval Records (EMI North/Generator), the track marks a bold new chapter for the North-East artist steadily climbing the ranks of the UK pop scene.

Following the acclaimed debut EP Scarlet Haze, Heat doubles down on their signature style of irresistibly catchy melodies, wrapped in heartfelt storytelling, gliding over a funk tinted electronic pop soundscape. ‘2009’ sees them embrace the bright, nostalgic pulse of late-2000s dance-pop, channelling the spirit of icons like Lady Gaga and Robyn, while injecting a sharp, modern edge that’s all their own.

Produced by Chad Rodgers, the track kicks off with glistening synth textures before exploding into a high-octane chorus—undeniably infectious and emotionally charged. Loren’s vocals soar and strike with clarity and power, pulling listeners into a vivid moment of longing and connection.

Talking about the track, Heat explains: “It’s a feel good love song, it’s a song about this pure form of intimacy, intimacy crafted by love rather than lust. not only the lyrics but the sound paint this picture of this almost ethereal gentle form of wanting someone, whether it’s recurring or one night, it feels deeper than just sex.”

Beyond romance, ‘2009’ taps into a cultural nostalgia: a time when clubs were full and pop music offered escapism from an uncertain world: “2009 was a good year for music, there were so many bad things going on like there is now and people were clubbing to escape, they were listening to music to free themselves mentally, even just for a bit. The pop music that was released that year centered around going out and meeting people and getting someone’s number etc, and so I thought given all that, it fits just right. The club scene is dying, can we bring it back, like 2009?”

With two showcases at The Great Escape this May and a slate of new singles on the horizon, Loren Heat is entering a thrilling new phase.
