Following on from a spate of brilliant releases on labels such as Rekids, Phonica White and Technicolour, Korean-born, Berlin residing producer Peggy Gou is set to releaase her new EP, ‘Once’ on the ever brilliant Ninja Tune label on March 2nd. Talking of the EP, Gou says “I really wanted to represent different styles and moods on this EP, from ‘open air’ warm-up vibes to ‘proper party’. I tried to draw on all my influences of the last few years, from electro, African music, early 90s house music and also techno, especially Maurice Fulton and DMX Krew.”

New single ‘It makes you forget (Itgehane)’ is taken from the EP and it shows off Gou’s sleek, dancefloor ready electro-house. It’s full of retro synth lines and basslines that pop and buzz through your ears, sailing close to this acid feeling, as the bassline bubbles and stabs of synth interject as the track unfurls. Over the top, Peggy Gou sings, for the first time, and in her mother tongue too. “I’ve recorded my voice before but this time I tried to sing, I’m not a pro singer but I did my best,” she laughs. Her smooth vocal perfectly suits the track as it drapes itself over the music.
