‘Send Me Out’ by Naarm/Melbourne band Fade Evare is an exquisitely liquid track that positively shimmers and glitters with a gentle fluidity and motorik thrum. The mesmerising vocals are as soft as gossamer silk, weaving as they do through the almost ambient shimmer of the instrumentation. The result is something quite hypnotic and enthralling, with a dream pop fugue that draws in genetic strands as far and wide as the Cocteau Twins, Sigur Ros, Tan Cologne and the under appreciated Enya.

Fade Evare has recently announced its signing to Astral People and is clearly a band to watch out for.

Vocalist Mira Holleman says the track is inspired by the contemplative, gum tree-strewn view from her inner north window, and is:

about how new friendships can be so intense, in a perfect way. So much so that you forget about everything else, hardly go home or spend time with your oldest friends. But you can also take comfort in the depth of those older relationships, in knowing that if you do drift apart, eventually one of you will pick up the phone and make the call.

Of the music, she says:

The music and production floats in the zone we love moving in. A fine balance between moody, reflective and euphoric. Originally a ballad, we flipped this three chord slow burner over a pulsing disco beat, giving it a new dimension.

The lyrics are romantic and as dreamy as the delivery:

Free your thoughts, see the trees from the porch throwing branches and roots down. Free like a bird, not a kite. should I learn to cut ties now and move ’round? I’ll be waiting for you.
And the water keeps on whirling. And I’m coming to the surface now. And the earth it keeps on turning around.
I’ll be waiting for you

This is magical:

‘Send Me Out’ is out today and available to stream and download though the link above and here. The band will be making their live debut launching the single on 12 April 2025 at Jungles Jungles – details and tickets here.
