The enigmatic HighSchool – London-based but originally from Melbourne – are about to release their EP ‘Accelerator’ next Friday, April 19 via [PIAS] Australia, and to further entice us have unveiled the single ‘She Took You To Narnia’. Antarctic chills pervade this gothic epistle, delivered on an electronic thrum and with the insouciance we have come to expect from this enigmatic band.

Of the process behind the new single, the band say:

A subtle influence for ‘She Took You To Narnia’ is ‘Mirror’s Image’ by The Horrors. We especially love the way it turns from being a four-to-the-floor electronic track to a more guitar-based band sound in the opening minute. We attempted to replicate this in our own way here.

The result has all the hallmarks of a goth-laced shoegaze onslaught, statuesque and posed with a celestial reverberation. It’s like the perfect soundtrack for a Nicolas Winding Refn film.

‘She Took You To Narnia is out today and available to stream and download here.

Produced by rising London producer Finn Billingham, mixed by GRAMMY-winning engineer Philippe Weiss (Earl Sweatshirt, Nas, Drake) and mastered by Blur and Depeche Mode producer Ben Hillier, ‘Accelerator’ is going to be something quite special, based on the preceding singles. HighSchool are one of the brightest and most exciting stars in the firmament. You can pre-order the EP here.

HighSchool are normally a trio but currently consist of duo Rory Trobbiani and Luke Scott while Rory’s sister Lilli Trobbiani is back in Australia to complete her studies.
