Eliza Hull has signed a global publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing Australia, a move that will support the next stage of her songwriting career.
To mark the signing, Hull has released a new interpretation of Silverchair’s 1995 single Tomorrow. The reworking, stripped back and atmospheric, appears in the trailer for the forthcoming Paramount+ drama Playing Gracie Darling, which begins streaming on August 14.
Produced by Pip Norman with arrangements from Erkki Veltheim, the track trades the original’s urgency for a slower, more reflective tone. Piano, strings and percussion frame Hull’s voice as she pulls out new emotional weight from the lyrics almost three decades on.
“Reimagining Tomorrow means so much to me, not just as an artist, but as someone who grew up feeling at times inadequate and different. As a young person, this song helped me make sense of the world around me. To now be able to perform this track feels like a full-circle moment – especially because Daniel Johns once shared my song Running Underwater, the first I ever wrote about having a disability. When recording this, I actually burst into tears.”
Hull’s version of Tomorrow adds to a run of career highlights that has seen her support Sarah Blasko on tour, and travel to London for writing sessions with Liam Howe, Brett Shaw, James Knight and Tom Iansek. More new music is expected in 2025.
