Sydney-based singer/songwriter and multi-disciplinary artist Maia Jelavic has followed up her last single ‘Solid and Human’ with a new track ‘Spanish Moss’. Driven by a rolling, sparkling piano, ‘Spanish Moss’ is a heart-achingly beautiful track, filled with vivid imagery and quiet reflection as Jelavic sings of the moss as a palimpsest for spirituality and permanency, where its growth gives her a sacred feeling. This bleeds into her soft velvet and yearning delivery:

This is a gorgeous track that seems to incorporate the ethereal themes in its delicate sounds. ‘Spanish Moss’ is out now and you can catch Jelavic launching the single this Friday – details below.

In her early twenties, Jelavic toured the US with Wisconsin-based band The Sharrows before
returning to Australia, where she immersed herself in the local music scene. She has
played guitar and bass for artists like Ainsley Farrell, Georgia Mulligan, Huck Hastings, and
Georgia Fair, fronted indie-rock band Motion Sickness (2019–2023), co-founded dream-pop
outfit Goodside, and now performs as one half of alt-country duo The Darling Hearts. A stunning talent indeed.
