In the wake of his monumental ‘It is what it is’, which we roundly adored upon its release in the spring, Thundercat has returned with a new remix of one of the records standout tracks – Dragonball Durag, featuring friends Smino and Guapdad 4000.
Rapper and vocalist Smino co-founded the lauded Zero Failure collective alongside Bari, Monte Booker, Jay2, and Ravyn Lenae. He is also one third of the group Ghetto Sage, with Saba and Noname. Guapdad 4000 (aka Shia LaBustDown, aka the Ferragamo Falcon, aka the Valentino Viper, aka the Gucci Goat, aka the Armani Army Admiral, aka Prada Pootie Tang) is an LA-based rapper, singer, creative, and self-confessed anime addict, a kindred spirit to Thundercat. Both artists are in the hip-hop supergroup Zoink Gang alongside JID and Buddy.
Full of gluey beats and sunshine funk and decorated with Thundercats absorbing falsetto over the top to wrap your ears around, but on top of that Smino and Guapdad 4000 add their considerable talents to the track, adding poise and class to the rhymes and cadenzas in equal effect.
