Public Enemy is back in the building! The legendary hip hop crew shares a new single, featuring DJ Premier, “State Of The Union (STFU).” Chuck D and Flavor Flav tell it like it is, and offer up their assessment of the current state of the United States, and what needs to be done to fix it. In a press release accompanying the song, Chuck D says “[o]ur collective voices keep getting louder. The rest of the planet is on our side. But it’s not enough to talk about change. You have to show up and demand change. Folks gotta vote like their lives depend on it, ‘cause it does.” Flav puts it in simple terms, “It’s time for him to GO.” And by him, Flav means Donald J. Trump.
Once again, PE is planting its flag in the ground and standing against racism, injustice and oppression, and standing up for, the right to vote. “History’s a mystery/if you’all ain’t learning.” The teachers are back at it, and bringing the noise with them.
