The All-American Rejects, Wet Hot All American Summer Tour rolled into Spokane, Washington this past Monday evening. Bringing with them on this tour was Pop-punk icons New Found Glory and long time emo mainstays, Motion City Soundtrack and The Get Up Kids. The tour brought on a sense of nostalgia, harkening back to the early 2000’s.

The air was a cool at the Northern Quest Casino, with the weather already getting colder for this late September show. With the looming rain clouds in the distance, those in attendance were hoping to enjoy a night of music from their teenage year before the clouds would open up, thankfully the weather complied long enough for All-American Rejects to take the stage at the end of the night. Opening the set with a few songs from their debut self titled album, All-American Rejects got the crowd going with their first hit single “Swing, Swing”. I even found myself singing along to the lyrics as I was capturing the moments unfold on stage with my camera.

This theme of nostalgia was ever present through out the night, with each of the artist that performed reminding me of seeing them at a Warped Tour or listening to these albums with my friends after school. The feeling i got speaking with others in the crowd were similar, the audience filled with millennials some even with now teenagers of their own with them. All of us their to take in the music of our youth, with one of the strongest line ups I’ve seen for a tour in a while.

With the brisk air continuing to move through the outdoor amphitheater, we all sang along to our favorite songs. The All-American Rejects wrapped up their evening playing an encore of “Move Along” and their number one hit “Gives You Hell” before calling it a night. As we made our way out of the venue, the songs we just heard were still playing through our heads. These are the kind of shows that will always bring a smile to my face – as I can easily get lost in the music and taken back to the places I was when I first hear these song.

The second leg of the Wet Hot All American Summer tour continues across the United States before wrapping up October 14th in Oklahoma City. Tickets and a full list of remaining dates can be found on the All-American Rejects website.

Resident of the Pacific Northwest in the United States. Ever since my first concert in 2004 (Ozzfest) when I was 14 I have been taking pictures. Those days were on a disposable film camera. Currently shooting with a Sony a7IV. My love for music has no bounds across many genres. Catch me at a local punk show or a Garth Brooks stadium concert.
