‘They Just Put a Reit Smile On Your Face’.

Red Rum Club took Sheffield by storm with a sold-out show at The Leadmill, delivering as expected a high-octane performance. The Liverpool-based band captivated the audience from the first note of the opening song, “Black Cat.”

As the infectious energy of the opening song reverberated through the venue, a seamless transition into “Kids Addicted” had the crowd singing and dancing along, creating an electric atmosphere that filled every corner of The Leadmill.

The band treated the audience to a taste of what’s to come on their upcoming album in 2024, unleashing the power of new tracks “Undertaker” and “Hole in My Home.” These songs seamlessly integrated into the setlist, demonstrating Red Rum Club’s ability to evolve their sound while maintaining the signature elements that have earned them a devoted fan base.

A sixteen-song setlist didn’t disappoint with tunes across all of the band’s back catalogue featured. My personal favourite ‘Matador’ made an unexpected appearance and was well received by the Leadmill faithful.

The band returned to the stage for a three song encore, launching into “Angeline” creating a sea of swaying bodies. The infectious rhythm of “Vanilla” followed suit. Bringing the evening to a climax, Red Rum Club closed with the anthemic “Lonely,” leaving the crowd chanting for more.

In conclusion, Red Rum Club’s performance at The Leadmill was superb. With a sold-out crowd and a dynamic setlist, the evening was a testament to the band’s unwavering commitment to delivering an unforgettable live experience. As one Sheffield fan commented while leaving the venue ‘They just put a reit smile on your face’ and that pretty much says it all.

Red Rum Club’s highly anticipated new album, “Western Approaches” was announced by singer Fran. Fans can expect an album that pushes boundaries and solidifies the band’s status as trailblazers in the indie music scene
