Formerly touring under the name ‘Blackfoot Gypsies’, Dee Oh Gee represents a fresh start for three highly talented musicians Matthew Paige, Zack Murphy, and Dylan Whitlow. Not ones to take them seriously they set about to create their unique brand of rock and roll. The band shared their crazy take on musical life with us.

Give us a potted history of the band

We were birthed in our moms first litter. We were the lucky ones. Straight outta the alley, but now we’re all classy. We’ve been a band for 12 dog years. Been on the road across America and Europe and all the kibble is the same.

We’re the hottest dogs in the land currently, on the road selling out theaters on our dog tour buses. Everything is going pretty well, and the new album “New Way of Life” is the cats meow, at least that’s the word from the birds.

Who inspired you to start making music

Mostly hound dogs.

And the one or maybe two records that inspired you artistically

You ain’t nothing but a hound dog (big mama Thornton version)

If you’re trying to explain whom you sound like to someone that’s never heard you, what do you say

Like 3 dogs playing through loud amps

Tell us about your new release

We recorded it in nashville where all the Grammys are made. They wished to remain nameless as they’re very humble.

Where can we get hold of it

Now! Stream it on all dog platforms

Tell us how you write

Since we have no thumbs, it’s a real group effort to get the pencil to say what we need to to say. Sometimes it comes out as scribbles and then we can’t read it so we just have to guess what it says. Which is a very useful tool to get creative if you get stuck lyrically.

Tell us about your live show and how much have you been missing it recently

It’s a cosmic gathering off all things made of light and positive force. We may be just dogs, but the weight of our live show weighs in at nearly 3 elephants worth.

What can we expect from you in the near future

Since we only have a few years left as dogs, we will continue writing golden songs and releasing them so that when we die and y’all miss us you can have a fond memory of the nice times we had. Just check out website for tour dates. That’s where it’s at. Live baby.

Tell us your favourite records that’s rocking your headphones/tour bus/stereo

The stooges, I wanna be your dog. It’s the best song.
