Amid reports and conjecture regarding the possible reformation of Hole, former frontwoman Courtney Love has jumped in and announced the release of a brand new AA single, You Know My Name/Wedding Day, released tomorrow, May 4, 2014. The new songs were recorded in Los Angeles with producer Michael Beinhorn and is Love’s first new solo material since 2004’s America’s Sweetheart.

“You know my name” is a supercharged punk pop onslaught, with these uncontrollable, recognisably grungey guitars, alongside Dookie like basslines and Love’s unmistakable guttural drawl, scything through the accompaniment. More than just that though, its fun and extremely catchy music to go jump around on a dancefloor to.

Wedding Day is more laid back, but had this extra air of menace, the stabbing guitars eventually voicing their dismay and breaking free of leashes drive the track like a stake into your heart. With Courtney herself citing the songs as the best material she has come up with in years, its difficult to argue with her on that.

The single will be released on May 4 via digital download with a limited edition 7” vinyl to follow. If you’re quick, you can pre order the http://smarturl.it/courtneyloveykmnwd

She’s also revealed her first UK tour in 4 years, starting next week. Thrilled to be back in the UK she says “I feel most at home in the UK and can’t wait to catch up on TOWIE and play in my second and hopefully, inevitably my first home. I grew up half a British citizen and I just miss it. I can’t wait to play for my Brits” Further to that, she’ll be joined on stage as part of her band with her friend and UK cult legend Ginger Wildheart of The Wildhearts.

Catch Courtney and her band at the following dates in May:
