You’ll know if you read Backseat Mafia at all regularly (and why wouldn’t you?) that we love the seven piece Melbourne psych jugganaut King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Their latest album, Paper Mâché Dream Balloon, is due out on November 13th via ATO Records and from it comes a new track, Trapdoor.
It’s got this shuffling psychedelia about it, as the title is chanted like a mantra almost, till it worms its way into your ear. Over the top, the flute bringing the funk to the party, as these sitar like figures smoulder away in the background. Its glitchy, in an earthy way as the rising violin figure brings things to an end.
Doesn’t look like our love affair with King Gizzard is going to end any time soon.
