Ever since Marco Carola dropped Lee Walker’s Freak Like Me (DJ Deeon vs Lee Walker remix) at the Music On closing party in Ibiza, it’s been just about the hottest house record around right now, as evidenced by further support from the likes of Dixon, Disclosure and others. So it seems almost justice that it finally gets a release in March on one of the perennially hot labels in dance music, Defected.
Using DJ Deeon’s 20 year old original as a template, it takes some of the old, 808 claps and the like, and launches an enormous kick bass at it and adds this wonky bassline that is frankly irresistible, along with some . This in the classic house vocals (higher, but fairly intact) from the originals, and there’s possibly the party record of the year.
