The Van T’s continue to bring the fun, and the noise, to 2016 with new single ‘Fun Garçon’.

It’s been quite a year for the Glaswegian four-piece. Along with the release of their critically acclaimed EP ‘A Coming Of Age’ in July they’ve played support slots with Yuck and Rat Boy and performed at festivals including T in The Park, Electric Fields, Wide Days, Stag and Dagger and a raucous set at Glasgow’s Tenement Trail festival last month. They were also nominated for Best Rock/Alternative act at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards.

‘Fun Garçon’ (released on 25 November via Bloc+Music) has been an obvious crowd-pleaser at recent live shows. It’s a riotous roar of guitars and sugar-coated snarling vocals from sisters Hannah and Chloe Van Thompson, along with the pounding rhythms supplied by Joanne Forbes (bass) and Shaun Hood (drums). It’s a huge, reverb-filled rock sound that Wolf Alice would be envious of but retains the retro surf-pop feel that we’ve come to expect from The Van T’s following last year’s ‘Laguna Babe’ EP. The harmonies of the Van Thompson twins are on top form as they tell the story of a potential womaniser – “it’s Armageddon, I’m gonna get him”. It’s ridiculously fun and catchy but delivered with attitude to be taken seriously.

2016 has been a successful year for The Van T’s and, with the relentless energy and songwriting prowess evident on ‘Fun Garçon’, there’ll no doubt be more for them to celebrate in 2017.
