News: Chasing Kites Release Heartfelt Sweller ‘Falling’

Bristol’s rising indie-rock outfit, Chasing Kites, return with their poignant and introspective new single, ‘Falling’. Produced by the renowned Sam Winfield (Bring Me The Horizon, Amber Run), the track showcases a tender, emotive side to the band, marking a departure from the electrifying energy of their earlier releases.

Falling opens with shimmering, reverb-drenched guitars and a warm, grounding bassline, creating a delicate, melancholic atmosphere. This mood is amplified by lead vocalist Matt Donnelly’s heartfelt and intimate delivery. As the track unfolds, gentle percussion emerges, supporting the understated yet irresistibly melodic chorus. The song crescendos into an evocative climax, with the middle eight offering a reflective pause before a breathtakingly atmospheric finale.

Lyrically, Falling explores themes of love and appreciation. Donnelly explains:
“Falling was written in a 10-minute moment of infatuation, after deciding I was going to spend the rest of my life with my partner. Since its inception, the track (for me) has become more than that. It’s a reminder not to take the people around you for granted and to take every opportunity to tell them how much they mean to you. It may not show the same level of classical lyrical prowess as some of our other tracks, but this one comes straight from the heart.”

Since their formation in 2021, Chasing Kites have rapidly gained traction in the UK music scene, earning comparisons to The 1975, Catfish and the Bottlemen, and The Cure. Their distinctive blend of 80s-inspired synth textures, soaring hooks, and vivid storytelling has captivated fans and critics alike.

The band’s previous releases have secured spots on prominent playlists and received airplay on BBC Bristol, Bath Sounds, and other key stations. Their live presence is equally impressive, having supported acts such as The Lottery Winners, Adult Leisure and King No-One, while also headlining sold-out shows.

Named a BBC Big New Sound, Chasing Kites are crafting a signature style that feels both anthemic and deeply personal. Falling stands as yet another testament to their growing artistry, delivering a heartfelt ode to love, connection, and cherishing the moments that matter most.
