South West indie-rockers Colour TV return with the considered, intricate and yet strikingly infectious new single ‘You Treat This Place Like A Hotel’.

Serving as a tantalising precursor to their forthcoming third EP, the band continue to capitalise on the tastemaker radio play that has come their way over their previous single including support from BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio X and a powerful performance at the Isle of Wight Festival.

With the new addition of their fifth member bass player Chris Harwood, the band once again lean into their cross genre sound with elements of indie and classic rock coming together under the charismatic and at times Morrissey-esque vocal delivery on ‘You Treat This Place Like A Hotel’. Blending a delicate sense of yearning with the vocal arrangements, the musical backdrop layered with reverb and delay-infused guitars floats with a sense of ease over the driving bass and drums to creating an energetic, yet melancholic and contemplative soundscape.

Talking about the bands growth and how the new EP see’s the band enter a new phase musically, they explain: “Colour TV emerges from the dust cloud with a redefined sound in the manifest of ‘You Treat This Place Like A Hotel.’ The incorporation of a fifth member has forged a new and purposeful path with emphasis on plaintive lyricism and melodic interplay. We aspire to condense cinema to pop art form, to soundtrack the film of your life.”

Continuing to speak about the inspiration behind the new single, ‘You Treat This Place Like A Hotel’, the band explained, “The song tells the story of a relationship that has frozen in the wake of communicative breakdown. It’s a hymn to anyone who has felt like a replacement, wondering if they are just stand-ins for the love of somebody else’s life. You might not ruin a hotel room, but you wouldn’t treat the place like you’re planning to stay. In the face of that attitude is the hope to be appreciated not for any proximate qualities, but for who we are – your New Nobody.”

Following a series of sold-out performances across the UK, Colour TV has been celebrated as one of This Feeling’s ‘Big In 2023’ artists. With a whole host of tastemaker support, the band are once again building momentum into the release of their upcoming EP.
