News: Ed Kuepper and Jim White release visceral video for the track ‘Swing For The Crime’ as they announce live dates to support their album ‘After The Flood’.

Living icons of Australian indie music, Ed Kuepper (The Saints) and Jim White (The Dirty Three) released the magnificent ‘After The Flood’ on 21 March through Remote Control Records (see my review here). The due have now announced a series of live dates in October and released a blistering video of the track from the album ‘Swing for the Crime’.

‘Swing for the Crime’ is a re imagination of The Saints’ track, which originally appeared in 1978 on the Prehistoric Sounds album, and I wrote in my review that the track is:

is like a taut crossbow being drawn back, the tension slowly building until a fiery release.

The new video captures the sense of urgency in the song – a kaleidoscope of fast moving landscapes and Nicolas Winding Refn-type nightscapes with shots of the duo in performance. Filmed by Denny Ryan, Jude Kuepper, Matteo Grasso and Anna White, it perfectly captures the visceral, restless elements of the music:

The live dates announced feature some stunning supports and promises to be an incredible event with frequent visitors to Backseat Downunder pages such as Mess Esque and Bleak Squad on the bill:

Thursday, 2 October – Adelaide The Gov + Alana Jagt
Friday, 3 October – Melbourne Recital Centre + Mess Esque
Thursday, 9 October – Brisbane Princess Theatre + Andrew Tuttle
Saturday, 11 October – Sydney City Recital Hall + special guests, Bleak Squad

Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane on presale now. All shows go on general sale on Wednesday through  feelpresents.com
