GRAMMY-nominated composer and multi-award-winning artist Bear McCreary will bring his work to Australian stages this July, offering audiences the rare opportunity to experience selections from his extensive catalogue in a live setting.

Over the past two decades, McCreary has become one of the most sought-after composers working in film, television, and video games. His credits include The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead, God of War, Child’s Play, and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.—each marked by a signature blend of orchestral power, thematic clarity, and emotional depth.

In 2024, McCreary released The Singularity, a long-gestating hard-rock concept album paired with a graphic novel. First conceived in his teens, the project features contributions from a wide range of artists including Slash, Serj Tankian, Corey Taylor, and Rufus Wainwright. Its narrative unfolds through three spoken-word interludes voiced by actors Lee Pace, Danai Gurira, and Ryan Hurst.

McCreary’s career reflects a rare breadth of collaboration—his work ranges from Netflix’s Academy Award-nominated documentary Crip Camp to commissions for ensembles such as the Calder Quartet, Hagen Philharmonic, and Seattle Symphony. He has also collaborated with artists including Hozier, Fiona Apple, Shirley Manson, and the late Sinéad O’Connor.

In 2014, Gustavo Dudamel conducted a suite of McCreary’s music with the LA Philharmonic and Master Chorale at the Hollywood Bowl—a nod to his growing presence in the contemporary classical world.

With three GRAMMY nominations, an Emmy Award, a BAFTA, and even a Jeopardy! clue to his name, McCreary arrives in Australia not just as a composer, but as a cultural figure whose work bridges multiple genres and generations.
