UK singer, songwriter, and DJ Romy (who previously released three acclaimed albums with her band The xx) will be heading to Australia this Summer with festival slots at Beyond The Valley and Wildlands Festival to celebrate her critically acclaimed debut solo album ‘Mid Air’ out via Young / Remote Control.

Today she has announced a run of intimate shows in Melbourne & Sydney presented by Untitled Group, marking her debut Australian solo headline performances in January 2024.

Romy Madley Croft, known simply as Romy is a pivotal member of the British band The xx. Emerging from the London indie scene in the late 2000s, The xx quickly gained a reputation for their distinctive and minimalist sound—a fusion of indie pop, electronic, and R&B. Romy’s ethereal and haunting vocals, combined with her emotive guitar work, have become defining characteristics of the band’s sound.

In 2020, she released her debut solo single ‘Lifetime’ to widespread acclaim, followed by a collaboration with HAAi and Fred again.. on their hit track ‘Lights Out’ which has amassed over 20.58 million streams.

A now-legendary pop writer, Romy has co-written each of The xx’s three acclaimed albums, Dua Lipa’s Grammy-winning hit single ‘Electricity’ with Mark Ronson and Diplo’s ‘Silk City’, plus songs for King Princess and Halsey, among others.

“The feeling of community in clubs that has provided an escape from the realities of the world. I may not be the life and soul of any party but being in the atmosphere of a club, observing and connecting – that makes me feel less alone, and more alive.”

Romy

Her most recent release, ‘Mid Air’ sees Romy working alongside producers Fred again.. Stuart Price (Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Dua Lipa), as well as her bandmate Jamie xx on recent single ‘Enjoy Your Life’. The album also features the singles ‘Strong’, ‘Loveher’ and ‘The Sea’.
