News: Suicidal Tendencies return with new single and Australian headline dates

Suicidal Tendencies

Two years since their last visit to Australia, Suicidal Tendencies return in late 2025 with a run of headline shows scheduled around their support slot on Metallica’s M72 tour, which also features Evanescence.

While their arena duties will take them to some of the country’s biggest stages, the band will also play select headline dates in Australia and New Zealand — marking a series of notable firsts. These will be their first headline shows in Auckland and Perth since 2018, the first Suicidal Tendencies tour dates in the region to feature Jay Weinberg on drums, and coincide with the release of their first new music in seven years.

The new single, Adrenaline Addict, features a guest appearance by Australian vocalist Nisha Star, and continues the band’s long-standing connection to the skate and hardcore scenes around the globe.

Formed in Venice, California, in the early 1980s, Suicidal Tendencies was founded by vocalist Mike Muir, younger brother of Jim Muir, a founding member of the original Dogtown Z-Boys skate crew. Emerging from the sun-bleached streets of Dogtown, the band combined the raw energy of punk, the heaviness of metal, and the rebelliousness of skate culture to create something distinctly their own.

With their flipped-up hats, hand-drawn shirts and bandanas, Suicidal Tendencies became a recognisable force on the West Coast underground. Their high-intensity shows stirred such a reaction in L.A. that they were temporarily banned from playing in their own city. But the band continued to build a global audience, developing a reputation for their hybrid “skate-punk-thrash” sound and cultivating a following among skateboarders, surfers, and fans of extreme sports.

Over the years, Suicidal Tendencies has been home to a remarkable roster of musicians, including Robert Trujillo (Metallica), Thundercat, Josh Freese, and Brooks Wackerman. Their catalogue includes several Gold records and multiple Grammy nominations, while their impact on culture earned them induction into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame.

The 2025 lineup includes Muir alongside guitarists Ben Weinman (The Dillinger Escape Plan) and Dean Pleasants, bassist Tye Trujillo, and drummer Jay Weinberg.

Support on all headline shows will come from Big Noter, the new project by Australian rapper Briggs, who has swapped bars for breakdowns in a full-band format. Produced by Nick Didia (RATM, Pearl Jam), Big Noter’s debut album is set for release in 2025.
