The shock announcement that veteran indie band You Am I‘s enigmatic Tim Rogers was joining venerable Australian punks The Hard-Ons as a permanent frontman is only matched by the immediate surprise release today of a new single and news of an album from the iconic band. The new album, amusingly entitled ‘I’m Sorry, Sir, That Riff’s Been Taken’ is due for release on 8 October 2021 through Cheersquad Records and Tapes.

The single – ‘Hold Tight’ is an almost mellow slice of jingly jangly pop with heavenly layered harmonies and a bright sparkling veneer:

This is buoyant and melodic stuff with a healthy and irreverent sense of humour. You can pre-order the album below and download/streaming links can be found here:

Of the merging of two of Australia’s indie icons, The Hard-Ons’ Ray Ahn, has said:

I’m thrilled to have Tim on board, and am loving his contribution!

Bandmate Blackie concurs:

How f@cking good is this!!

Rogers said:

I was already the luckiest goof in rock’n’roll and I get asked to make a racket with my hero’s? Strewth. Wake me up sometime will ya?

Rogers will remain fronting You Am I. Strange and exciting times ahead!
