Mansfield rockers The Publics are back with the emotional roar of their new single ‘Gaslighter’.

After a tension-building drum rhythm opens the track, audiences are dropped into a realm of soaring guitar melodies, dynamic bass lines, and rocketing riffs. The lead vocal tells an agonized story, charging toward a stadium-filling chorus, each element supporting the non-stop energy that propels the song to the stratosphere. High-octane songwriting continues to be a staple of The Publics.

The band explains the new single, sharing, “Gaslighter tells the story of a young man’s transition into fatherhood as he struggles to leave behind his troublesome former life. We aimed to portray the rift in the central character’s focus through the contrast of soaring choral backing vocals and sharp guitar solos. The track is designed with festivals in mind, particularly the drum intro which not only sets the tone for the single’s energy but aims to capture the attention of new listeners. We’ve already performed the track live on numerous occasions and received some incredible feedback. We’re really excited to be putting this one out into the world!”

Garnering support from across their home county of Nottinghamshire, The Publics’ non-stop gigging has earned them a reputation for creating momentous atmospheres. Supporting the likes of The Sherlocks and The Lottery Winners, headlining at Nottingham’s Rescue Rooms and The Bodega, and gracing the stages of YNOT?, Splendour, and Camper Calling, their momentum only continues to build.

Inspired by indie favorites like Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Killers, and Arctic Monkeys, The Publics is comprised of Josh Porter (Vocals/Guitar), Elliot Stephenson (Lead Guitar), Ollie Siggee (Drums), Tom Scott (Bass), and Taylor Gadsby (Keys/Guitar). Each member pushes the band onward into 2024, promising more electrifying performances and unforgettable music.
