South London producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tom Misch has announced a special edition of his acclaimed Beat Tape 2 project in celebration of its fifth anniversary.

Originally released on his own label Beyond the Groove in 2015, the new edition will be available on gold-colored vinyl, with a limited quantity of hand signed copies available from Misch’s online store.

A soulful and collaborative follow-up to Beat Tape 1, the project marked an evolution beyond the Dilla-esque boom bap sound of his earlier work, broadening his style to encompass a diverse range of influences — all the while incorporating features from the likes of Jordan Rakei, Zak Abel, Carmody, Sam Wills, and Alfa Mist.

With his acclaimed debut album Geography, sold out shows across the globe, huge streaming numbers, collaborations with the likes of De La Soul, Loyle Carner, GoldLink, and Novelist in addition to support from John Mayer, Eric Clapton, John Legend, and Elton John, Misch has quietly but rapidly become one of the most celebrated artists of the last decade.

Most recently his joint album with drummer, producer, and jazz innovator Yussef Dayes, What Kinda Music was met with wide acclaim, with Misch’s musical artistry and restless experimentalism continuing to push the boundaries of writing and production in unexpected and enthralling ways. Now is the perfect time to look back and celebrate one of his seminal early releases again.
