News: We are all going to ‘Hell In A Handbasket’ as the legendary Kim Salmon’s Smoked Salmon tread the boards across Australia

With Kim Salmon and his band Smoked Salmon about to embark on an extensive Australian-wide tour, the band of reprobates take us on a deliciously excessive fuzzy trip to ‘Hell In A Handbasket’, their second single in this guise.

Kim Salmon of course needs no introduction, but, as is always the way, I will anyway: leader of the legendary swamp pioneers The Scientists (who reformed last year for a series of gigs) and The Beasts of Bourbon, he has been at the very beating heart of indie music in Australia and leading the world with the paisley-tinged grunge that emanated from Western Australia in the eighties: a true pioneer and often labelled as the ‘Godfather of Grunge’.

Smoked Salmon is an international collective of musicians serving the great genius.

A self-titled debut album for this project is out next month on 28 February out through the legendary Cheersquad Records & Tapes.

Wrapped around a surprisingly poptastic melodic chorus, the new track (a commentary on the lunacy of Brexit) is a barbed-wired bolt of lightening with all the excess and fuzz you could desire and expect from Salmon’s project, with a cathartic cynicism and wry delivery.

The accompanying video comes again from the fevered imagination of Benny J Ward  with lip synced footage from the band members interspersed with some crazy ink drawn visions of Hell from Kim. The results are somewhat like being in an episode of ‘Get Smart’ at a Kaos party and someone’s spiked the punch with acid and there’s fuzz guitar and day glow triple exposure all round!

Oh what joy:

‘Hell In A Handbasket’ is out now and available here:
