Glaswegian Jazz / Noise / Experimental band AKU! which features members of corto.alto and & Graham Costello’s STRATA are releasing a second single ‘Clawing The Earth Apart’ from their new LP Blind Fury out now on Worm Discs, and we’re delighted to premiere it right here on Backseat Mafia today.
Blasting into life with these repetitive saxophone patterns and blaring trombone melodies, it settles into this noise-funk groove, with the Trombone taking the lead, these almost dystopian sounding flares and complex solos writhing over the top. It’s the sort of music that has the ability to willingly draw you into some kind of Evil plan, be that Clawing The Earth Apart or (in my case) eating my children’s sweets.
