We are very pleased to premiere today the new single from Model Home as they announce their signing to Brisbane’s boutique magicians False Peak Records in a joint venture with New Zealand’s Papaiti Records label. Hailing from Ōtautahi Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand, this an exciting addition to False Peak’s already impressive roster: a dynamic female-fronted indie pop band with all the genetic threads that lead to New Zealand’s stellar record as purveyors of fine jingle jangle pop.

Intriguingly called ‘Leaky Home Simulator 2031’, the single is a jaunty guitar-driven piece of indie pop that travels at speed with a ringing jangle and heavenly choruses that scale heights surpassing the sky-piercing Southern Alps. There is a subtle hint of fuzz and barbed-wire, a little psychedelic tinge in the break and a shouty backing chorus that adds a frisson of excitement:

This is tremendous stuff from another antipodean gem. ‘Leaky Home Simulator 2031’ is out tomorrow (Friday, 19 May 2023) and can be pre-saved now here.

The band celebrate the single release later this month at Space Academy in Christchurch.

27 May – Christchurch – Space Academy with Pickle Darling (Solo), Sports Dreams & Only You
