Brigitte Bardini is a brilliant singer/songwriter who delivers the most majestic pieces of sonic delights, and we are ever so honoured to premiere the new jewel in her crown, ‘Crush’.

There is a shimmering eighties dream pop blush to the new single, with a sparkle that evokes New Gold Dream-era Simple Minds or Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark with its luscious synth layers and aching beautiful melodies that glitter in the sky like celestial ornaments. The result is something filled with yearning and desire, sensuous and enchanting, an aural unguent that is hypnotising.

The lyrics have a delicious thread of melancholy – a tale of unrequited love that adds to the breathtaking beauty of the song:

Yes I’ll forget about you, if you want me to I’ll forget about you My crush of 22

‘Crush’ comes with a suitably mesmerising and surreal video directed by Anouk Studios and shot by Dylan Zimmer & Christopher Baron with Bardini assisting with editing – a close and intensive performance, bleached and white with a Merchant Ivory sheen that ends with a euphoric dance.

‘Crush’ is superlative – a rich production, enchanting melodies and utterly immersive. Bardini is a prodigious talent and her songs are getting exponentially more majestic, which makes her new album, due later in the year, all the more anticipated. ‘Crush’ is out tomorrow (Friday, 17 May 2024) through Ruby Valley Records and you can pre-save here.
