Former Scotsman turned Melburnian indie soul/blues-rocker Millar Jukes, is teaming up with his band The Muscle to release ‘Gittinit’, their first track from their upcoming EP, ‘Git It’ and we are proud to premiere the video here at Backseat Mafia.

A powerhouse of classic blues-rock, Gittinit proves a nice turn of direction for Millar Jukes, with the lyrics focusing on letting your hair down rather than wallowing in self-pity over lost relationships, and the music having a more muscular, yet good-time, bluesy feel. The hip-shaking rhythms and the pounding beats are reminiscent of bands such as Rival Sons, The Temperance Movement and Electric Mary. Jukes says of the track:

‘Gittinit’ is about going out and losing it all on the dancefloor. Usually I write songs that are self-deprecating or about relationships, so I wanted to write one just about having a good time. I heard my mates say it when someone is feeling the music, like, ‘Ooh, he gittinit!’

The video is a capture of the band at play – a dark and murky atmosphere with hints of bacchanalian excess. As Jukes eloquently puts it:

We just get up there and try to blow the roof off!

And here in the video, the incontrovertible evidence is on display – pure uninhibited fun:

The video for ‘Gittinit’ is released out today, while the EP, ‘Git It’ will be released on 26 August 2022. The band will be launching the EP on Friday, 26 August 2022 at the Evelyn Hotel in Melbourne.
