Backseat Mafia is very happy to be premiering the new video from Paulina, the Meanjin/Brisbane-based singer-songwriter, for her track ‘Maybe We’re Running’ today.

Paulina, who was born in Germany is known for her atmospheric and dreamy vocals delivered in a voice that would make angels swoon.

The video was filmed at Coleychelle Farm in Mutdapilly, Queensland and depicts Paulina wandering through the farm, seemingly the only character not frozen in time. The video balances a contrast of vivid natural landscapes against the characters who remain desolate and bereft of life. Intensity is built through close-ups of wild-life, as Paulina explores the landscape, finishing with a picturesque final wide-shot of her running into the distance.

“I’m reflecting on how humanity exploited all of our resources and people, to the point where our planet couldn’t handle it anymore and decided to click ‘pause’ on our existence. The shots of the landscapes and nature, highlight that the world around us can live and thrive without us. This music video reflects on all that we have – the things that matter like our natural world, connection and love – and shows you just how quickly it could all be taken away from us, if we don’t take more care of each other and the world around us.”

Paulina

Paulina was the winner of the ‘Youth Award’ (Ages 10-17) in the Queensland Music Awards (2022) for her 2021 single ‘Parasite’. Previous releases have been widely embraced by Spotify, triple j, triple j Unearthed and Australian community radio stations FBi Radio, 4ZZZ, SYN Media, 2RRR, Edge Radio, Radio Adelaide and more.
