See: Everything Everything Announce October Tour Dates

October 4th. A day that, in 1957, saw the launch of the Sputnik Russian Space Satellite, the first artificial craft to circumnavigate the Earth, and gave rise to what became know as the space race. It was also the day that Mexico became a republic, that the Orient Express first ran, and the first meeting of the Boy’s Brigade took place. It is also the day that people as diverse as Louis X of france, Charlton Heston and err, Stacey Solomon were born, and at the other end of the spectrum Janis Joplin breathed her last.

Here’s something else to add to the October 4th stuff. Manchester’s Everything Everything have announced that their going out on their biggest ever tour in October this year. This announcement comes off the back of a sold out run of UK dates in February, EU and North American dates in March. Its going to see the band visit eleven places, starting with Newcastle, taking in their home city before finishing at The Forum in London.

Consistently one of the best bands in the country right now, both in terms of records (surely their recent album Arc is one of the albums of the year) and also as a live act, NME saying ‘the hyperactive structure and dynamite hooks make for an impossibly eventful form of super-indie’. Tickets for the tour go on pre-sale on Wednesday March 13 @ 9am & general sale on Friday March 15 @ 9am via:

While you’re at it, check out the brilliant single and Video (devised and directed by lead singer Jonathan Higgs) as well, just in case you were hesitating at all. Higgs describes the thought behind it as ‘about being with someone you love at the end of the world, even if it’s just the world that you both share. I wanted to do something visually related to the ash/concrete bodies found at the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in Pompeii. They are amazingly powerful to look at and formed by a totally natural, destructive force. The bodies of the people are huddled together while there is death literally raining down. That’s what I wanted it to feel like.’ Well, it certainly does.
