Legendary trip-hop band Morcheeba have announced their new, tenth studio album is out on May 14th 2021. From it they’ve released the first glimpse of what we can expect from the duo Sky Edwards and Ross Godfrey, with a video for their new single, ‘Sounds of Blue’.
As with most other artists, the lockdown stripped Morcheeba of gigs and festivals, but gave them, as Godfrey says time to write songs and really get to hone them”. “There weren’t so many pressures so we could really take our time getting the songs right,” adds Edwards.
downtempo beats and clicks start ‘Sounds of Blue’, with cascading electronics and this descending bassline that oozes melancholy. Over the top, Edwards unmistakable vocal breathes life into the track, as it lounges beautifully over the top. A deep and luxuriating listen.
