Superorganism - Everybody Wants To Be Famous
Famous in their own right

Likely to be the coolest band in the world in 2018, Superorganism have a date for their debut album, it will be out March 3rd on Domino.

They also have a band-produced video for new single “Everybody Wants To Be Famous”.  In which, lead singer Orono’s softly-spoken vocals perfectly express the boredom of everyone reaching for their fifteen minutes to a backing that sounds like all the Youtube videos in the world playing at once.  The joy of this track is the wall of craziness this band exude throughout.  It’s like the joy of discovering a huge library of sounds and wanting to share them all in the same song.  I hope they try and recreate it live without samples, they will need a lot of props if they do.

Meanwhile the video cuts up flashing stock footage in the background, while Orono coolly responds to Youtube comments accusing her of being a hologram. Nothing makes sense – I think the part where the shrimp fly through space as part of the fake advert for seafood flavour soda is a particular highlight.

Catch them live here in the UK, ahead of an extensive tour of the USA, and a number of festival appearances.  And until then, also check out Orono reading out the band’s fan fiction.

Tour Dates
Mon 05 Feb – Birmingham, Institute 2
Wed 07 Feb – Manchester, Gorilla
Thu 08 Feb – London, Oval Space
Fri 09 Feb – Brighton, The Haunt
Sun 11 Feb – Glasgow, Centre for Contemporary Arts
Mon 12 Feb – Leeds, Belgrave
