Victoria+Jean consist of, unsurprisingly Victoria and Jean. More surprising is that they happened upon each other, Victoria being from Stockholm, while Jean hails from Brussels, where the pair are based. They make this sort of wistful, brooding, almost dreamwave-y indie pop. Taken from their rather wonderful album of the same name, Divine Love displays all these qualities, with these echoey shuffling guitars contrasted by Victoria’s more assertive vocal. What results is something rather ghostly and strangely beautiful.
The band have allowed renowned visual artist Anita Fontaine to create the kaleidoscopic video for the track, starring actress Annabelle Wallis (The Tudors, Peaky Blinders, Annabelle, X-Men: First Class) and a budgie. Frankly you can’t make too many video’s about budgies. Check it out, here
