George Alice, the artist from Adelaide who won Triple J Unearthed in 2019, with ‘Circles’ is back
with a new release.

Her latest single, ‘Hold On’ was written back in 2019, on the same day that ‘Circles’ was. Alice was a startling 15 years old when these tracks were written. ‘Hold On’ was co-written with Maribelle Anes and produced by Japanese Wallpaper, who is a frequent collaborator and Xavier Dunn, who has worked with Client Liaison and Jack River, amongst others.

‘Hold On’ will feature on George’s debut EP which is set for release on 18 February 2022 and which will also include her previous singles, ‘Mid Years’, ‘Teenager’, ‘Stuck in a Bubble’ and ‘Circles’. ‘Hold On’ builds on the themes of loss and heartbreak that were explored with ‘Circles’. It is not as overtly poppy as Alice’s more recent singles, ‘Stuck in a Bubble’ and ‘Mid Years’.

‘Hold On’ starts off as a lush, delicate ballad but slowly builds up momentum to a glorious
dénouement with the beats providing a cathartic release.

‘Hold On’ is available to download and stream here.

It is clear from observing her progression as a musician that George Alice is going places, and this is reflected by the fact that she has signed a deal with US label Lorna Vista who also represent artists such as Denzel Curry and St. Vincent.

George Alice will be touring Australia as a support to Allday, the Veronicas and Amy Shark.
