Track: And the Sunset Burns Announce Debut Album & Share Buoyant New Single ‘Take It or Leave It’

Indie-rock newcomers And the Sunset Burns announce their debut album, All My Sins, and release the first single ‘Take It or Leave It’.

Capturing a sound that encompasses a vintage flair through it’s beach-indie feel, analogue production and bright guitar tones, the track balances is buoyant musicality with melancholic lyricism. As the track progresses through its stripped first vers, it gradually introduced plucky bass sound and driving drums as the track comes to life after the first chorus.

Topped with a swaggering and almost lazy lead vocal, the track is given an effortlessly cool aura to match the 60s tinged sound and warming lo-fi production. The upbeat instrumentation contrasts against the easygoing and heartfelt vocals, creating a balance of rose-tinted optimism and an underlying emotion.

“Ruben (drummer) wrote the song while living in Tooting, just before joining the band. He was inspired by the jangly sound of Ooh La La by the Faces and came up with the rhythm guitar riff that runs through the song on his acoustic guitar.

It began very much as an acoustic song, but when you present a song to the band it takes on a new life. Everyone brought their own influences and it evolved into the modern vintage blend it is now. The song was produced by David Bardon at the Sunglasses for Jaws HQ studio in Hackney.  For our upcoming debut album, we want to showcase the range of our sounds. In ‘All My Sins’, each song is about a sinful transgression we’ve had, and that being resolved. For our next album we plan to blend our sounds together so they are present in each song. Stay tuned!”

An Anglo-Spanish four-piece, And the Sunset Burns is fronted by childhood friends Danny (vocals/guitar) and Isma (bass), both from the coastal region of Cantabria in Northern Spain. After moving to London, the pair was joined by Ruben (drums) and Alex (guitar), solidifying their lineup in May 2023. Together, they weave a tapestry of indie rock infused with rock and roll and Latin rhythms, create a sound which is at once fresh and familiar.
