Bristol-based post-punk outfit Bible Club release the title track from the upcoming EP Umbra due April 11th via Velvet Echoes.

Launching straight into crunchy, pleasingly augments chord progression of the intertwining main guitars which are solidified and cemented by the tight bass and drums, ‘Umbra’ soon introduces the angsty, gritty spoken word vocals that have become the staple of UK Post-Punk. The track gradually introduces a melodic backing vocal pulling the track forward to a rhythm shift as the beautifully intertwining picked guitars build a sense of suspense.

Continuing to grow the track takes an unexpected turn into a more straight strummed rhythm under a distant vocal melody, offer a slight shoegaze undertone to the band’s sound.

“Umbra captures the stark awareness of a world stuck in disarray,” the band reflects. The track’s sonic architecture is built around what they describe as “interwoven guitars… sometimes stark and asymmetrical, sometimes unified and powerful,” creating a dynamic foundation for their unflinching social critique of modern society.

Staying true to their artistic vision, the band emphasises, “We try to keep our music diverse and unconventional.” This commitment to innovation is evident throughout ‘Umbra,’ which defies easy categorisation while maintaining a cohesive artistic statement.

Produced by Dom Mitchison, the single exemplifies the band’s creative evolution.“We wanted to focus on our songwriting and explore where we could take our next project, with a developed sound and a core concept. It felt like a studio experience that we’ve truly grown from.”

Setting an exciting tone for the upcoming EP, the new single ‘Umbra’ is out now. Listen below:
