Track: BODIES Unveil Haunting New Single ‘Health’

Irish trio BODIES return with their latest single ‘Health’ – a tight, boxy garage rock fizzer that brings a raw sense of energy whilst delivering compelling melodic hooks. Taken from the band’s forthcoming sophomore album, ‘Health’ marks a bold step forward for the group, capturing a sense of energy and musical depth.

As the track grows layered, math-rock undertones and repeated vocal lines give the track a sound as comparable to early Foals and whilst retaining a more contemporary alt-rock flare. Driven forward with a sense of purpose thanks the driving drums, the elegant guitar work creates an intricate backdrop for the pensive lead vocals.

Born from frontman David Anthony’s personal experience of physical trauma and chronic illness, the single serves as a meditation on the blurred line between survival and actually living. Drawing directly from the disorienting aftermath of a life-altering cycling accident and the onset of long-term illness, ‘Health’ is BODIES’ most vulnerable and raw track to date — a sonic excavation of pain, guilt, and fragile resilience.

“I felt like I was coming back from the brink of death, but not enough to feel alive,” explains David. “There was this endless loop of spiritual and mental malaise, and underneath it all, this nagging voice questioning whether I somehow manifested what was happening to me. The song tries to capture that liminal space where you’re not sure if your own perceptions can be trusted.”

Rather than offering solutions or neat resolutions, the track sits uncomfortably within the complexity of emotional trauma. Exploring destructive nihilism, self-blame, and the gnawing weight of doubt, ‘Health’ offers a rare kind of catharsis. The track does not escape discomfort, but by naming it and dwelling in it captures an easy, unsettling sense of suspense which is carried through both the instrumentation and lead vocal. It’s a song that invites listeners to confront their own moments of darkness with honesty and vulnerability.
