The new split 7” single from Chastity Belt and Holy Wave is a beautifully balanced time capsule of two distinct yet equally immersive sonic moods. Released on February 7, 2025, through Suicide Squeeze Records and limited to 1,000 copies across three unique vinyl colors, this release offers a rare physical collector’s item for fans of both bands.

On one side, Chastity Belt delivers a downtempo, slacker rock tune that immediately grabs your attention with its dreamy melody and frayed, ramshackle guitar work. The understated vocals and haunting harmonies create a lingering impression that resonates long after the track ends, while a gentle undercurrent of melancholy adds depth and emotional complexity.

Flipping the record reveals Holy Wave’s contribution: a track titled Time Crisis Too that is equally compelling in its own right. Sun-drenched and imbued with a breezy, beachy feel, the song is sweetened by floating synths that leave ample room for ethereal, hazy vocals. The result is an immediate and memorable sonic experience, offering a warm hit of psychedelia perfectly suited to the chill of winter.

On the track, Holy Wave’s Ryan Fuson shares: We immediately started working on new music after the Interloper session. It felt effortless after the album, so we wrote as much as possible. Time Crisis Too was one of the first ones to come out; it happened organically before we had any direction. We continued working like this until March 2020, when we started a short East Coast/Midwest tour. Time Crisis Too was added to that tour’s setlist, and it was going great. Sometimes, you can’t totally understand a song until you play it night after night. So that’s what we did – we played it every night until Chicago, where it ended with the pandemic. It’s hard to believe the song got shelved because I love it so much, but after that Chicago show, it did get shelved. It wasn’t until we recorded some songs in 2022 that we played it again. We still haven’t played it live since then, but maybe by the time you read this, that will have changed.

Overall, this split single is a striking showcase of how two bands can capture different facets of dreamlike, atmospheric rock. Chastity Belt’s track seduces with its laid-back, introspective vibe, while Holy Wave’s Time Crisis Too radiates a sunlit, breezy optimism that is both reflective and invigorating. Either way, you need it in your lives
