Track: Christine and the Queens release new single “Girlfriend” and announce tour

Christine and the Queens have made their return with new single “Girlfriend”, as well as announcing an extensive tour of Europe, Canada, and the United States.

“Girlfriend” shouldn’t disappoint her fans; it stays true to her roots of mixing indie-pop and 80s synth that made her debut album so popular. What’s interesting, though, is that there’s definitely some hints of 70s disco and RnB in there too; there’s moments that sound almost like Quincy Jones-era Michael Jackson in the chorus.

Christine and the Queens’ debut album “Chaleur Humaine” (released as “Christine and the Queens” in North America) was a huge hit, selling 1.3 million units worldwide and leading to acclaimed performances of “Tilted” on the American chat show circuit, including The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. She will perform at Radio 1’s Biggest Weekend for the first time on May 27th in addition to her tour, tickets for which can be found at christineandthequeens.com
