Track: Don’t you ‘Get It?’ Stavanger’s Eie unveils raucous acerbic slice of pop punk ahead of debut album release and tour.

Eie – the world of Stavanger’s dynamic Emilie Eie – has just released a scorching acerbic piece of excoriating punk in the form of ‘Get It?’. Here the worlds of Lene Lovich collide with the more contemporary punk of Amyl and the Sniffers to deliver a perfectly formed riposte to bigotry and ignorance – a fitting theme given the depressing state of politics and the seemingly reversal of decency and tolerance.

Eie’s music is, in many ways, an extension of their activism, and they are not afraid to speak out in the ongoing debate about LGBTQ+ rights. ‘Get it?’ is a sarcastic response to the increasingly normalized attitudes that queer rights are still something up for debate.

The lyrics are raw and unapologetically sarcastic, a perfect match to Eie’s delivery and the thundering music up on which it is carried:

Theories, conspiracies
Throw away reality
Because that means
You’d have to come to terms with your
own bigotry
You say you don’t get it
It’s just not for you
You just don’t get it
Well, you don’t have to!

A perfect two fingered wave at the barbaric hordes at the gate.

The track is available through the link above and via all the usual download/streaming sites.

It comes of Eie’s forthcoming album, out through Apollon Records, with the brilliant title ‘My Tongue Is Stuck to the Roof of My Mouth And That Is All I Can Think about!’. The track is performed by Emilie Eie, Harald Harestad, Anna Klungre, Ariel Aarstad, Andreas Mikkelsen, and Herman van Opdorp. The song, like the rest of the album , was recorded at Komet Sound Studio in Stavanger and recorded and mixed by Espen Eidem, and mastered by Steven Grant Bishop.

You can catch Eie on tour in March across Norway – details below.
