Jazz pianist Edouard Ferlet has released his new EP ‘Reset’ which sees him pair his playing with a machine controlled piano. Along with the release of his EP he has shared the video for new track ‘Rythmoïd’
Ferlet comments about the EP:
“In my new EP “RESET” I take up the device of my previous album Pianoïd where I dialogue with a 2nd mechanical piano driven by a machine (a Disklavier™ and a Piano Silent™). This system, which I have developed since 2015, has given me a new perception of piano playing, improvisation, interaction and composition.
The new single ‘Rythmoïd’ see’s the combining of the mechanical precise playing balances with the emotive human touch. A jumble of notes challenges each other to be heard, and out of the chaos, a melody rises and falls. Morphing from organic piano notes to more artificial sounds it describes Ferlet’s brief for the EP perfectly.
